work in the afternoons and evenings. Also, I enjoy meeting
new people and socializing, and being a waitress would
give me a chance to do both of those things. I can’t
imagine that I would make a lot of money, but overall it
seems like a job that would be suitable for me. I wouldn’t
choose a job as a receptionist because I don’t like waking
up early, which receptionists are often required to do. Also,
sitting behind a desk for up to eight hours would really bore
me. I’m also not keen on being on the phone all day, so a
job as a receptionist is certainly not for me. I rejected the
idea of a summer job as a cashier because, much like a
receptionist, I feel like I would be extremely bored behind
a cash register all day. Furthermore, I consider myself to
be quite a clumsy person; I doubt that I would be capable
of bagging groceries without dropping them everywhere!
b) Suggested Answer
1 My ideal job would be as a teacher. I have a little
brother and I’m always helping him with his
homework. He always tells me how helpful and
patient I am, so teaching seems like it would be a
perfect fit for me. I really like the feeling of
accomplishment and pride I get after teaching
someone something new.

The qualities that I believe are necessary to be an
ideal teacher include patience, kindness,
intelligence and the ability to show authority.
I definitely think that students should have part-time
jobs. It encourages them to be responsible. Students
who have part-time jobs have to effectively balance
school and work, and learning to manage your time
like this can be very useful when you join the
workforce. A part-time job also better prepares
students for the workforce.
There are many ways that students could be
prepared for the workforce. Firstly, they could attend
more job fairs in order to get the opportunity to talk
to people who are interested in similar fields of work.
I also think it is important for teachers to teach
students about how to write a great CV and cover
letter. Activities like these would really prepare
students for what is important when entering the
workforce.
