How to get your maps from Pandora Tomorrow public editor to Chaos Theory public editor

Information :

First of all, you have to know that the gameplay features are different between Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos theory.

There are new game modes for maps, so you will have to make your map Chaos Theory compliant.

However, the geometry (BSP + static meshes) can be loaded to Chaos Theory editor seamlessly.

Procedure :

To get you map into Chaos Theory editor, just copy the packages that your map uses (Map (.sds), textures (.utx), staticmeshes(.usx), sounds(.uax)).

To know which packages your map uses, copy only the .sds file from PandoraTomorrow\packages\Maps to ChaosTheory\Packages\MapsEd (these are the directories for map files at the editor format)

Then load your map in the Chaos theory editor, a dialog box will appear telling you which packages are missing, then copy all the missing packages from Pandora Tomorrow to ChaosTheory packages directory using the following rules :

The directories from Pandora Tomorrow where your map is have been mapped in to new directories in Chaos Theory :

Pandora Tomorrow directories                   Chaos Theory directories

Packages\Maps                                          à Packages\MapsEd (for editor) and Packages\Maps (for

engine)

Packages\StaticMeshesXBox                            à Packages\StaticMeshes

Packages\TexturesXBox                            à Packages\Textures

Packages\SoundsPC                                          à Packages\Sounds

So copy from PandoraTomorrow\packages\Maps your .sds file to ChaosTheory\packages\MapsEd, then copy from PandoraTomorrow\packages\StaticMeshesXBox your .usx files to ChaosTheory\packages\ StaticMeshes, and same procedure for textures and sound packages

MUST READ : Packages file formats are the same between Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, except for the map settings which are saved in a texture package that ends with “-i.utx”.

So don’t copy the –i.utx file related to your map. Uusually with the same name as your .sds file, for example if you map is named “squ01.sds”, the map settings are saved in TexturesXBox and named “squ01-i.utx”. So don’t copy –i.utx files or the editor will crash when loading your map.

And now you can launch your map with the editor and build a new gameplay for it using Chaos Theory editor !

There is a new file format for maps and maps settings.

The files used to be *.sds files for maps, they are now *.sdc files for maps.

Same for *–i.utx that have been transformed in *–i.utc.
