Climate Change: Weird Weather Could Be the New Normal

Katherine Hayhoe of Texas Tech University says the extreme weather, ranging from deep snowfalls to monster floods, seen recently in the United States is evidence of the human-caused, climate-change fueled "new normal" for weather.

"It´s a new normal and I really do think that ´global weirding´ is the best way to describe what we´re seeing," she told a panel of experts organized by the Union of Concerned Scientists. Also on hand was the Swiss Re reinsurance company.

"What we´re seeing is the new normal is constantly evolving," said Swiss Re´s Nikhil da Victoria Lobo. In the U.S., for example, an extended drought has been punctuated by an upsurge in massive rainstorms.

On Saturday in Poland there was a hailstorm, wchich is the second weather anomaly this May, becaouse in the beginning of month everyone could see snow and hail too.

Iran Arrests 30 "American Spies"

Accusing them of spying for the United States, Iran has arrested 30 people it says were collecting information on the nation´s biotechnology, nuclear and aerospace defense sectors. The U.S. has had no diplomatic presence in Tehran since 1979.

But according to cables published by WikiLeaks, the U.S. has been operating information-gathering offices oriented on Iran in its neighbor countries, in which diplomats sought information from traveling Iranians.

The announcement of "the Intelligence Ministry´s active and pious forces" arresting the spies comes just two days after President Obama reiterated charges that Iran sponsors terrorism and seeks nuclear weapons, which Iran denies.
