Clone Invader is an arcade style game that requires either a CGA,
EGA, MCGA or VGA graphics adapter. It is compatible with 8088,
8086, 80286, 80386, 80486 and Pentium computers. Clone Invader is
not compatible with a computer that has a NEC V series microprocessor.

Clone Invader will not work under Windows 3.x. You must exit
Windows before playing. Windows 95 works fine, and an icon called
CLONINV.ICO is included for your desktop.

Mouse: To use your mouse with Clone Invader, press the left mouse
button for a one player game, or the right mouse button for a two
player game. Either mouse button will act as the fire key.

Keyboard: Pressing the number 1 or 2 keys will select a one or two
player game. Use the left and right arrows keys to move your base.
The space bar will act as your fire key.

The ESC key can be used during mouse or keyboard play to exit the
game. The S key will toggle sound effects on or off. During the
demo screen, you can clear the high score by pressing the H key.

A bonus base will be awarded at 1500 points. The mystery invader is
worth 50 - 300 points and the technique of always getting a 300
point mystery invader applies just like the arcade version.

Clone Invader will select the best graphics mode available. If you
have a 8088 and a VGA card, you will probably find the game too
slow. Selecting EGA or CGA graphics will speed up the game. You
can override the graphics selection by typing one of the following
     commands:

        CLONINV CGA
        CLONINV EGA
        CLONINV VGA

When you exit Clone Invader you will see a line called Speed Index.
Clone Invader checks to see how fast your computer is and uses this
index to slow down your computer for proper play. You may override
this index by selecting your own speed preference. You can pick any
positive number to adjust the speed. The higher the number, the
slower the game will play. This override is selected by using an
option on the command line as follows:

CLONINV S=1 (This will make the game very fast)
CLONINV S=10000 (This will make the game very slow)

A color blind option is available from the command line. This option
will change the color of the lasers coming down to a bright white
which is easier to see. This option is only available in the VGA mode.
To invoke this option use the letters CB. Here is an example:

        CLONINV CB
        CLONINV S=7000 CB

     PROBLEMS:

If the game should lock up, try removing any ram resident programs.
The keyboard driver in Clone Invader disables the normal keyboard
     interrupt.

If your high score is not being saved, make sure the name of Clone
Invader is CLONINV.EXE. If the name is correct, make sure your path
is set to the directory where the game is.

If you have a problem you can't resolve, or suggestions for
enhancements please write to me. Please be sure to indicate what
version of Clone Invader you have, and your computer type and
     graphics adapter being used.

I would like to thank Ben Broder for the many hours he spent testing
and programming the keyboard driver for Clone Invader.
