Stand Easy...
elcome to Military Modelling
Magazine, Volume 47 Number 12.
,
I shall begin with my now annual
reminder that this magazine promotes and
encourages a hobby, nothing more, nothing
less. This is a hobby that brings people
together from all over the world, people
who share a common interest; while it is a
fact that some are better at it than others,
everyone also has the right to build what
they want, how they want it! Some like to
show their work off on websites, others are
lucky enough to have it published in print
while the majority of them simply build,
paint and display for their own pleasure.
Some modellers spend months researching
and carefully preparing their bench for their
next venture while others go to their local
hobby shop, pick up a random kit and build
it on the dining room table on a Sunday
afternoon. My point is that there are no
good or bad modellers – just modellers - and
that’s just how it should be!
This month, Gary Radford concludes
his excellent RMF Abrams build and Mark
Bannerman makes a welcome return with
a Romanian R35 T26. We have two new
contributors, Stefano Avedano with his very
nice ‘Red Ball’ Chevvie and Peter Day with
his lovely Luftwaffe figure. Other regulars
are Roger Merry who helps us to save a
bob or two with his ‘waste not want not’
approach, Andy Belsey and his incredible
flowers and the talented Ian Succamore
who deservedly steals the cover with
his portrayal of a ‘scrumping’ Napoleonic
soldier. John Norris adds a splash of colour
with his feature on the Ermine Street Guard
and there are show reports for the EME
and Montignac show provided by Adrian
Hopwood and David Garden respectively.
This month also sees a new section
introduced; ‘Readers Showcase’ gives
everyone of all standards and ages the
chance to see their pride and joy in print.
