USED TO -  w odniesieniu do przeszłości

Konstrucja z used to do something (zwykło się coś robić) służy do mówienia o sytuacjach, które:

a) regularnie miały miejsce w przeszłości, czyli były swego rodzaju zwyczajami czy nawykami, które już nie mają miejsca

b) miały miejsce w przeszłości, a teraz już nie istnieją

          Np.:

•       I used to live in Poland and now I live in England. (Mieszkałem w Polsce, a teraz mieszkam w Anglii)

•       My sister used to bite her fingernails but now she’s too old for that. (Moja siostra zwykła obgryzać paznokcie, ale teraz jest już na to za duża)

•       They used to play baseball after school every day. (Oni zwykli grać w baseball codziennie po szkole)
